Dear Customers,
At approximately 5:45 PM CST on Saturday May 31, 2008 a transformer at the H1 Data Center in Houston, Texas caught fire and subsequently exploded. HigherTech Computer Service's main web hosting and e-mail servers are housed in the H1 Data Center facility owned and operated by The Planet and were affected by this fire. Thankfully though, no one was injured in the fire at the data center and all personnel in the data center at the time of the fire were safely and quickly evacuated from the facility. Upon orders from emergency services in Houston, The Planet has been unable to activate emergency generators or battery backup units. The fire destroyed underground power lines that feed the facility with primary power. Because the power lines were destroyed and the facility is not allowed to use generators at the present time all servers in the facility are currently without power and offline.
The Planet has engineers onsite in Houston and is meeting with vendors, engineers and staff to assess the situation and bring all systems back online as quickly and as safely as possible.
At the present time several HigherTech Computer Services customer's website and e-mail is offline. Please be assured that HigherTech and The Planet are working together to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
Our support department is available 24/7 to answer any questions that you may have. Please call (251) 445-9701 to reach a representative in our support department or e-mail support@highertechcs.com.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this inconvenient time.
Sincerely,
HigherTech Computer Services and Bienville Technology
